A cat, male, 6.5kg, fellfrom the sixth floor, caused a comminuted fractureof the right ulna and the right tibia.

During the surgery, it isplanned to usedoublePRCL-S5mm locking bone platesof BlueSAO to fix the ulna . The cat’s ulna is almost waterdrop-shaped and is more comminutedin this case. If the surgeryonly uses unilateral fixation or single-plate fixation on the tension surface at the bottom of the ulna, the stability of the fracture will not be guaranteed, so double-plate fixation is used during the surgery

Part of the soft tissue around the tibia suffered a large contusion, the bone was broken into three pieces and there were some small bone fragments. In this regard, during the surgery, 2.0 Kirschner wires were used for reduction and angle adjustment before bone plate fixation, followed byPRCL-S6.5mm locking bone plate was used for fixation, and all locking screws were used. It is worth noting that in the case of comminuted fractures, the blood supply and soft tissues of the surgical site should be protected as much as possible. A good blood supply is conducive to the healing and growth of the injured area.

Thanks for Dr.Xu from Maoming Mingya Animal Hospital of Guangdong province bringing us the case.
