A Case of Mixed THR Surgery: Bilateral Hip Degenerative Lesion in a Border Collie

Technical Department of Bejing Quanxinquanyi Animal HospitalDr. Han Cheng2023-08-16 234

Breed: Border collie, 9 years old, male (neutered), 19kg.

Medical history: bilateral hip degenerative lesion. The dog had a right hip replacement one year ago and recovered well. This time he had the left hip replacement. Accurate preoperative planning was made by BlueSAO iBlueVet, and we did the surgery by using the φ23mm cemented cup, #6 biological stem and φ18mm side bolt for both limbs, a φ16mm (+9) head for the right limb, and a φ16mm (+3) head for the left limb.

Bilateral cemented cups were chosen for immediate postoperative stability, due to severe bilateral hip hyperplasia and poor blood supply after grinding of the acetabular fossa.

Thanks to Dr. Han Cheng (Technical Department of Bejing Quanxinquanyi Animal Hospital) for sharing the clinical case of BlueSAO Biological THR.
