Left hind limb intermittent limping has persisted for over a month. Clinical examination revealed mild muscle atrophy in the affected limb, no abnormalities in the patella, hip joint, or ankle joint were observed; the drawer test was negative but the pain was intense and sensitive. Preoperative imaging did not show any obvious indications. During the operation, the BlueSAOnew equipment - arthroscope was used for further examination. The arthroscope indicated a partial tear in the posterior lateral branch of the anterior cruciate ligament, and TPLO surgery was decided for treatment.
During the operation, BlueSAO TPLO-6.5 mm L pure titanium locking bone plate was selected for internal fixation. The surgery was completed successfully, and the postoperative recovery was good. We hope for a speedy recovery!
Thank you very much to Dr. Du Lang from Kunming Hengjia Pet Hospital for sharing the clinical cases of BlueSAO Arthroscopy!
Summary, can TPLO surgery be directly treated for cases with positive drawer experiments?
The answer is yes, but further use of arthroscopy will have more clinical advantages. Through BlueSAO arthroscopy, we can understand more intra-articular conditions. In this case, we knew the integrity of the posterior cruciate ligament, and at the same time, we also found out the health status of the meniscus, which is very important and very confident in the prognosis. Once there is a potential problem with the meniscus, BlueSAO can also guide us to repair, perform partial resection or release under arthroscopy.
Faced with the difficult-to-diagnose lame problem, BlueSAO arthroscopy broke the diagnostic deadlock. As the "third eye" of clinical diagnosis and treatment, it uses minimally invasive exploration to penetrate into the details of joints, accurately capture the clues of the disease, and clear away the fog for scientific diagnosis and treatment.
